Enrollment

Families must provide proof of residency before a child can be enrolled. Residency is the address at which the child physically resides, keeps their personal belongings and receives mail. This residency must be a street address. Post Office boxes are not accepted. Families living within the district must provide one of the following documents for proof of residency. 

Category A (requires 1 document):

  • most recent property tax statement;
  • current closing statement;
  • current mortgage statement; or
  • current signed residential lease (including a landlord’s name, address, phone number, and lease start and end date)

Category B (requires 1 document):

  • current utility bill (gas, electric, water or phone);
  • current auto or health insurance statement; or
  • current state or federal benefit statement

Falsification of any information or documents relative to this verification procedure may result in withdrawal of this student.

Parents have a right to request their child(ren) attend a different school district other than where they reside through the Wisconsin Open Enrollment Program. The Wisconsin Open Enrollment (school choice) Program allows students living outside the Howards Grove School District to enroll in our schools without paying tuition, if space is available, and subject to certain other restrictions. The parent/guardian is responsible for student transportation.

Any parent/guardian interested in having their child(ren) attend the elementary, middle, or high school in Howards Grove should contact the building principal to arrange for a time to tour the facility and discuss the educational programs provided to students in the Howards Grove School District. Tuition Waiver Due to Move

If you are anticipating a move out of the Howards Grove School District during the current school year, parent(s)/guardian(s) may request to have their child(ren) continue attending school in Howards Grove. Please contact the appropriate school office, or the District Office to receive a Request for Tuition Waiver Due to Move form. Completion of this form will enable your child(ren) to continue attending school in the Howards Grove School District even though you no longer live within the District boundaries.

For application forms, additional information, or to apply on-line see the following website: dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment. Applications for open enrollment can be only be accepted during the months of February, March, and April for the following school year.

Please Note: If your child(ren) currently attend the Howards Grove School District under the Open Enrollment Program, it is not necessary for you to re-apply for the program every year. Please contact the District Office at 565-4454 for additional information, or if you have any questions.
